Our Story

The SANIPEX GROUP was established in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 1995 with the opening of a commercial trading office for the Gulf and wider MENA region. Representing just a handful of quality European plumbing and bathroom manufacturers, the company achieved early success through the quality of product, their suitability to the market and the level of personalised service.

By 2000 the company had extended its portfolio of products to such an extent that it was able to open its first retail showroom under the BAGNODESIGN banner. Offering a range of contemporary European products in what was still a rather traditional market, the product offering appealed to a growing number of architects, interior designers and developers.

BAGNODESIGN soon became synonymous with offering high quality sanitaryware and brassware, and coupled with the reputation for excellent customer service and after-sales support, it wasn’t long before SANIPEX GROUP started to secure major projects with key local and regional developers such as Emaar (master developer of Dubai Marina) and Nakheel (Palm Jumeirah).

Expanding Across the Middle East

Whilst traditionally a distributor of boutique European brands, it was the financial crisis of 2008/9 and a demand for value engineering, that led to the rapid development of the BAGNODESIGN product range. Strong relationships with manufacturers and the ability to react quickly to meet customer demands and market trends, resulted in significant growth across retail and projects and enabled us to open BAGNODESIGN franchise showrooms across the region.

Today through working with Europe’s leading manufacturers, the BAGNODESIGN brand is recognised as being innovative and leading the way on design.

A New Brand

Recognising a demand in the institutional and commercial sector, we have successfully developed a comprehensive range of products under the AQUAZONE label focused on public washrooms and plumbing solutions.

Going Global

Following on from its success across the Middle East and Central Asia, BAGNODESIGN opened its first showroom in Europe in 2013 in central London, along with a logistics centre to serve and support the growing UK and European business. Since it was established in 1995, SANIPEX GROUP and its BAGNODESIGN brand have been built upon trust and partnerships with its professional clientele; be they designers, developers, retailers or project managers.

Our key asset is our people who have enabled us for more than two decades to deliver a solid track record of growth. With the addition of our in-house state of the art training Academy in 2014 we are providing hands on training on both the technical and selling aspects of our products, and induction and business process training to ensure our people are qualified and customer focussed. Daryl Barker
Managing Director

Daryl founded Sanipex Group in 1995 and has driven the company’s growth from a commercial trading firm to a turnkey supplier to some of the world’s leading properties and landmark buildings. Daryl has more than 30 years of invaluable industry experience, gaining experience in high profile companies such as Pegler where he worked in Export. He also handled regional operations for Paul Weil Gulf and was Managing Director for Eurobath UK, before venturing out on his own. Daryl is a visionary leader and has taken the company from strength to strength, building Sanipex Group into a trusted brand in the industry, in addition to two sub-brands – BAGNODESIGN and AQUAZONE – that are well-recognised among consumers.

Calum Stewart
Group Retail Director

Calum oversees Sanipex Group’s retail business which operates under the luxury BAGNODESIGN and commercially focused AQUAZONE banners. Driven by a desire for continuous improvement, the retail showrooms set the benchmark in terms of store design, innovation, product offering and world class customer service. With 30 years of retail management experience from market leading companies across the UK, Middle East and Far East, Calum brings a wealth of knowledge to the Group. Prior to joining Sanipex Group in January 2008, Calum was Store Development Director for the AS Watson Group in Hong Kong where he was responsible for developing new retail brands and store concepts.

Guy Wilson
Managing Director - Trade & Projects MEA

Guy is responsible for the projects division of Sanipex Group. He drives new project wins, key client relationships and overall business development and growth. Guy has more than 20 years of international sales and management experience in the industrial and construction sectors in Africa, Europe and Middle East. Prior to joining Sanipex Group in January 2011, Guy worked at the Geberit Group for 10 years, heading the company’s Middle East operations for seven years.

Dominic Coulbeck
Group Commercial Director

Dominic is responsible for Sanipex Group’s Legal, Cash Flow and Credit Control including HR functions and driving the company’s full-fledged training academy and overseeing audits and certifications. Dominic joined the company in 2005 bringing with him more than 25 years of experience with blue chip organisations in the UK and Middle East.

Paul Raynor
Chief Operating Officer

Paul is responsible for the overall operations of the company, overseeing Supplier Relations, Sourcing, IT, Quality Control, Product Development and Logistics. Paul’s tenure in the plumbing industry, working for market-leading, international companies across the UK, USA and France, brings a wealth of experience to Sanipex Group. Prior to joining the company in 2015, Paul spent 10 years at Ferguson plc (previously known as Wolseley Group) managing multi-million pound B2B and B2C business.

John Lennon
Managing Director, UK

John manages Sanipex Group’s business in the UK. He oversees the company’s operations across Project, Trade and Export channels and is responsible for growing the business in each of these three areas. John has more 27 years of work experience, with the past 15 years in the kitchen components industry; latterly as Managing Director of a distribution business. John started his career in retail before spending more than 10 years in FMCG Marketing & Sales with Unilever.

Richard Nicholls
Sales & Marketing Director, UK & Europe

Richard Nicholls is responsible for the management and development of the Projects and Trade sales teams, as well as the Marketing, Customer Services and Technical teams. He is focused on growing the company’s wholesale and projects channels in the UK and across Europe. With more than 20 years of experience in the bathroom industry, Richard has sound knowledge of the retail, new-build housing (working with major developers such as Barratts and Galliards) and commercial sectors across the UK and EMEA. Most recently, Richard was the Commercial Director at Merlyn, following 17 years in the FTSE 100 Wolseley business in various positions.

Vipul Amin
Financial Director

Vipul has primary responsibility for all aspects of finance at Sanipex Group – from budgeting and forecasting to accounting and auditing. Vipul is a qualified CIMA accountant from the UK with an established career in financial management. Prior to joining Sanipex Group in 2015, he has been associated with well-known international brands such as Rolls Royce, Daimler, Unilever, Kodak, Hallmark and Sainsburys.
